While reading a book about Gustav Klimt, Sanchita was shocked that the advancing Nazis destroyed three of Klimt’s seminal masterpieces. No colour photos exist of these great paintings. Their destruction was akin to someone burning Van Gogh’s Sun Flowers, or Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. These three paintings were the culmination of years of work and a synthesis of his core ideas. To pay homage to the great artist Sanchita took it upon herself to re-create the paintings. Medium: Oil paint / Size: 14x16 inches / Date: 2009
